Green Moog dal instant pot

Ingredients

1 cup green moong dal
1 onion(optional)
1 large tomato or 2 small/medium tomatoes
Garlic 3 cloves
Ginger 1/2 inch
1 green chili
Oil- 2 tablespoons
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon dhana jeeru powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili
1/4 teaspoon garam masala(optional)
1.5 -2 teaspoons salt
3 cups of water
Cilantro for garnishing
Lime/lemon


Method
1) Rinse and soak moong dal for at least few hours

2) Start instant pot on sauté mode, add oil, once warm, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, followed by ginger, garlic, green chili and chopped onions. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, may glaze with water if needed. Then add chopped tomatoes and let cook until mushy. Add in masalas and salt and stir well. Now add drained moong dal and 3 cups of water. Pressure cook for 12 minutes with natural release. 

3) May add water to desired consistency once done, garnish with cilantro and lime.
