INSTANT POT SEV USAL
Ingredients
- 2 cups dry green or white peas
- 2-3 onions
- 2 tomatoes
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 green chili
- Cumin seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida
- Cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 4 tablespoons of oil
- 1 teaspoon of amchur powder
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste(optional) if do not have amchur powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon red chilli
- 2 teaspoons dhana jeeru
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 3 teaspoons salt
- Water to cover the peas
- Garnishing-cilantro, onions, tomatoes, sev
1) Soak the dried peas overnight in hot water or at least for 6 hours
2) Place instant pot in saute mode and place 4 tablespoons of oil, once warm add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, and asafoetida, followed by onions, green chili, ginger, and garlic. After about a minute, add tomato paste and tomatoes. Now add masalas and salt and stir well. Finally, add the peas and enough water to cover the peas.
3) Pressure cook for 35 minutes followed by natural release
4) Taste and adjust consistency by adding more water if needed.
5) Garnish with cilantro, onions, sev, tomatoes, etc
6) Enjoy!
